Marketa sang both as a choir member and a soloist with various early music ensembles: Musica Fresca (Renaissance Music), Schola Benedicta (Gregorian Chant) and the Prague Cathedral Choir (Baroque). As a member of the Prague Chamber Choir she performed in concerts and operas throughout Europe for more then ten years. Marketa studied classical singing at the Conservatoire of Music in Prague and after graduation continued to study under renowned Hungarian professor Therezie Blumová for another twelve years. She attended master classes in early music given by English tenor James Griffett and countertenor James Gray.
Besides private teaching, Marketa taught singing in the Teacher’s Training Academy and the Academy of Early Music in Prague. She moved to Ireland in 2002, where she taught in the Wexford School of Music for three years. She was also a founder member of the Czech-Irish ensemble for traditional music Kyčera. She now heads her own private school of singing SCUOLA DEL CANTO LIBERO from her home.
